Karen van Gorp has been a consumer advocate for ten years. On responding to a lifesaving clinical trial and discovering she was the only surviving member of her melanoma support group, Karen supported others and advocated for the treatment she was fortunate to have access to, to be made available to all Australians with advanced melanoma.

Now a board director, and Co Chair of the Consumer Advisory Group, for Melanoma Patients Australia, Karen is also Chair of Cancer Voices SA and contributes the patient voice in several research, health technology assessment and health policy roles. Karen is Senior Policy Advisor for the South Australian Employer’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Business SA) with a background in Workplace Relations and, most importantly, a mother of three.
