Tracy Hess

Tracy Hess has worked as a Clinical Research Coordinator with Mackay Institute of Research and Innovation (MIRI) at the Mackay Base Hospital since early 2019. She has a background in both paediatric and emergency nursing and experience in the implementation of Digital Hospital Release. She is also an endorsed Immuniser working with the School Based Immunisation Program. Having completed her Master of Nursing (education) degree in 2021, she also teaches part time with James Cook University in the Postgraduate Nursing Online (Masters) program.

Her role in MIRI allows her to work closely with Principal Investigators, primarily in the Anaesthetic Department, with most recent development into Medical, Paediatrics and Obstetrics & Gynaecology Departments, to provide daily management of clinical trials and assist with implementation of research projects in these areas. Her role also consists of conducting feasibility for trials, preparing site governance submissions, understanding trial protocols, providing education and support on trial processes, while also completing patient recruitment and data entry. In her spare time, she runs ultra-marathon trail events, loves to go camping and travel.
